Brown’s Farm Tennis Court Reservations
- Any desire to host a team at Browns Farm must first be requested with the tennis coordinator prior to creation.
- Reservations for Alta matches should be made in advanced and coordinated with the Tennis Coordinator.
- Individual reservation times are a maximum of two hours and are made through Reserve My Court online. All court reservations should be done with reservemycourt.com
- No back to back reservations
- Reservation forfeited in “no show” after ten minutes
- Tennis rules posted at pavilion next to pool & website
- Each ALTA/USTA team is allowed one lesson or practice per week with court use as follows: One court for a maximum of 4 hours OR two courts for a maximum of 2 hours.
- A single group/party cannot reserve more than 3 courts simultaneously.
- Four courts may be scheduled by the Tennis Coordinator for simultaneous use to accommodate ALTA/USTA team practices or kids summer camp as long as it’s no more than 4 hours total per week.
- Court 4 is primarily to be used for pickle ball and now appears as 4A and 4B in reservemycourt.com. If there is a need to utilize as tennis court – please reach out to tennis coordinator who can reserve 4 in total for tennis for you.
- Requests for practice/lesson times must be submitted to the Tennis Coordinator by the deadline for submitting rosters to ALTA or USTA
- If all rosters and non‐resident fees are not submitted to the Tennis Coordinator by the deadlines, then no court time will be assigned.
- If a scheduling conflict should arise, teams with ‐ 1st) the largest percentage of Brown’s Farm Residents, and then 2nd) the largest number of Brown’s Farm residents ‐ will have priority.
- Captain/co‐captain must contact the Tennis Coordinator to reserve court times for playoffs
- The tennis courts are for the use of Brown’s Farm residents in good standing and their guests only. Guests must be accompanied by a resident.
- If multiple courts are reserved for a group, the group must have at least one resident playing on each court reserved. Should residents make a court reservation, and then not be playing and/or present for the court reservation, this would be considered a violation of this privilege. Additionally, if residents are allowing others to make reservations under their name, and the resident that was signed up for the court not be present, the individual that made the reservation and the resident that allowed the reservation to be made under their name will be considered in violation of rules for court reservation. Violations reported will be dealt with by restricting those involved with a 30-day suspension of court reservation privileges. Should multiple violations occur regarding court reservations, it will be presented to the board for potential longer- term reservation suspension durations.
Brown’s Farm Captain’s Rules
- Team Captains and Co‐captains are responsible for ensuring their teams follow the Brown’s Farm Rules for Tennis and Rules for Team Tennis. Failure to do so will result in sanction or loss of team tennis privileges.
- Upon submitting the roster to ALTA/USTA, it is the Captain/Co‐captain's responsibility to turn in the roster, nonresident's fees, and practice/lesson requests to the Tennis Coordinator.
- Captains are responsible for submitting all fees to the Tennis Coordinator and cannot reserve courts for a team to practice or play until the fees, roster, and list of non‐ residents are received.
- Captains must inform the Tennis Coordinator of any player, resident or nonresident, added after the roster and fees have been submitted.
- Each team’s Captain and Co‐captain are responsible for managing the roster as outlined in the Rules for Team Tennis during the season, until a new Captain and Co‐captain are selected by the team.
- All teams have the right to call for a vote to decide on Captain/Co‐Captain for the next season.
- Team captains are responsible to verify that the Tennis Coordinator has reserved courts for home matches.
- Each team’s Captain and Co‐captain are responsible to ensure all trash from courts; deck and surrounding area are cleaned after a match and placed in dumpsters.
- Each team’s Captain and Co‐captain must report any necessary tennis court repairs to the Tennis Coordinator.
- Captains are to provide garbage bags for the cans in the pavilion area.
- Captains must provide a form of communication to the Tennis Coordinator (i.e. email, telephone numbers).
Brown’s Farm Tennis Team Roster Rules
- When enough teams exist that no more teams can be formed under ALTA/USTA/” other” rules; teams with the highest % of Brown’s Farm residents will have priority over teams with less residents. New team(s) must submit rosters to the Tennis Coordinator for consideration two months prior to the season.
- No resident may be on the roster if their homeowner dues are not paid. The rosters, once submitted, will be sent to the homeowners’ board, for review. Any player that is not current will be taken off the roster.
- Each team must have a Captain and Co‐captain. The Tennis Coordinator needs to be notified, preferably by email which the captain/co‐captains will be for the season. The team Captain or Co Captain must be Brown’s Farm residents.
- Each team has the right at any time to vote to remove players for:
- violations of the Brown’s Farm Rules of Tennis or Rules for Team Tennis
- non‐participation in practices or matches
- moving from the neighborhood
- non‐residency
- drop in ability/qualification relative to the progress of the team (the player has the right under Roster Rule 8 to challenge the team’s decision before being removed)
- players can appeal decisions to the tennis committee.
- Residents have the right to demonstrate their ability and qualification to be placed on a team’s roster. A resident is qualified to be on a team if they are at least as good as the lowest ability‐level person currently on the team. This judgment can be made by the Tennis
Coordinator and a practicing teaching tennis professional by having the resident demonstrate his/her abilities.
- If a player or players currently on a team wish to play on a lower level team, the members of the lower level team have the right to vote whether or not to add these players (or player) to the roster. The team may vote not to accept this player (as unqualified for the team) due to the impact the people or person’s higher level may have on the overall team’s level.
- A team cannot be forced by a resident to remove any non‐resident players once rosters for the season have been submitted. Residents may replace Non‐resident players once a season is concluded.
- The Tennis Committee is responsible for interpreting the Rules and solving disputes. When solving disputes, teams with the largest percentage of Brown’s Farm Residents will take priority. The Tennis Committee’s decision may be appealed to the Board of Directors.
Brown’s Farm Tennis Rules
Please keep the court gates closed, locked and the lights off when courts are not in use. The following rules must be observed by anyone using the tennis courts:
- The tennis courts are for the use of Brown’s Farm residents in good standing and their guests only. Guests must be accompanied by a resident.
If multiple courts are reserved for a group, the group must have at least one resident playing on each court reserved. Should residents make a court reservation, and then not be playing and/or present for the court reservation, this would be considered a violation of this privilege. - Residents and their guests are responsible for any losses, damages or injuries incurred while on the courts.
- Basic rules of courtesy should apply at all times while using courts and while waiting for a court.
- Children who are not playing tennis are not allowed on the courts.
- The tennis courts are to be used for the sole purpose of playing tennis or pickle ball unless otherwise authorized by the Tennis Committee.
- All courts must be reserved on ReserveMyCourt.com
- Organized teams must reserve courts through the Tennis Coordinator.
- Court reservations are limited to a maximum time of two hours per resident/playing
group. No back‐to‐back sign‐ups are allowed to extend playing time. At the end of this time, the court becomes” free” to be signed up by another resident, other than yourself or a member of your group. You may continue playing on the court for as long as it
remains “free”, but you cannot sign up again yourself.
- As a courtesy to the other neighbors, cancel your reservation in ReserveMyCourt.com or contact the Tennis Coordinator if you need to cancel your court time. Any violations to this rule should be reported to the Tennis Coordinator.
- There is a 10‐minute grace period beyond the registered start time for the court to be used by the person/people that signed up for it before it is declared “free” and available for anyone waiting.
- Court lights will be turned off shortly after 10:00 p.m. each night. Play must stop promptly at this time.
- Individual tennis instruction paid or otherwise, must be booked as a normal reservation on ReserveMyCourt.com and you must indicate in the reservation that it is a “lesson”.
- Private/group lessons are limited to a maximum of two courts.
- Proper tennis attire (tennis shoes, shirts, etc.) must be worn at all times.
- Proper net height is 36 inches and may not be changed to another height at any time.
- No food is allowed on the courts.
- Beverages on the court must be in a non‐breakable container.
- Each player is responsible to empty court‐side trash cans and to clean up ball cans, lids, before leaving the court. This means empty the trash cans at the end of your match.
- No pets, bicycles, playpens, skateboards, skates, or similar equipment is allowed on the tennis courts at any time.
- The last member on the courts is responsible for turning off the lights, locking gates,and turning off fans under pavilion.
- All USTA/ALTA matches are allowed to maintain courts until completion.
- Violation of the Rules for Tennis can be brought before the Tennis Committee or Board of Directors for sanction or loss of tennis privileges.
Brown’s Farm Tennis Team Rules
- Tennis Teams MUST follow the Brown’s Farm Rules for Tennis and the Rules for Team Tennis or face sanctions or loss of team privileges.
- Anyone wishing to join a team at Brown’s Farm or wishing to form a team must contact the Tennis Team Coordinator and the tennis team captain directly.
- Due to the requirements for court use, formation of ALTA/USTA/” other” teams require the coordination and approval of the Tennis Coordinator.
- Any ALTA/USTA/” other” team playing in the community must have at least 50% Brown’s Farm residents.
- Upon submitting the team roster to ALTA/USTA, Captains are responsible for turning in roster, non‐resident fees and requesting practice/lesson times to the tennis coordinator. Within one week of receiving all rosters, the Tennis Coordinator will determine court availability and practice/lesson times.
- Due to the numbers of teams, it is recommended that you submit a first and second choice for practice times in the event multiple teams request the same time.
- A $25.00 fee is required for each non‐resident adult player per season. A $15.00 fee is required for each nonresident junior player.
- All non‐resident players on the roster are required to pay this fee, regardless of whether they practice or play matches.
- The non‐resident fee must be submitted to the Tennis Coordinator by the team captain, (checks payable to Browns Farm Neighborhood Association), when rosters are turned into ALTA or USTA. If this fee is not paid by the deadline, practice times cannot be scheduled for the team.
- Non‐resident players are not allowed to reserve court time.
- ALTA/USTA team matches are limited to two courts maximum per team. The third court option will be available to be reserved two days prior to the playing time.
- Brown’s Farm resident team players must be present at all team practices. At no time can only non‐resident team players be the only players present at a team’s practice.
- Based on ALTA and USTA requirements, two teams may play matches at the same time, using all four courts. This is to allow as many Brown’s Farm people to play on teams as is possible.
- Rained out matches are to be rescheduled under the individual player’s name and team name. The Tennis Coordinator may reserve a 3-hour block of time for rained out matches only. Under no circumstances are you allowed to bump another player for rained out matches.
- All tennis instructors must have liability insurance with minimum coverage of a million dollars. A copy of the policy must be on file with the tennis committee.
- Profanity, throwing of racquets and any other emotional outbursts will not be tolerated. Failure to comply with this rule may result in removal from the courts and forfeiture of team tennis privileges.
